My mentor and the chair of my committee made a big move recently!
Elisabeth Cawthon, Associate Professor of History and Interim Director of the Pre-Law Center, has accepted the position of Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the College of Liberal Arts, effective June 1.
Cawthon is internationally known for her scholarship in legal history and medical history, having published two monographs and numerous chapters and articles in such prestigious venues as the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. She is the incoming chair of the Southern Historical Association’s European History Section.
Cawthon has won multiple teaching awards at The University of Texas at Arlington (and chaired 42 M.A. and Ph.D. committees) and was the recipient of a UT System Regents Outstanding Teaching Award in 2012. She has served for seven years as the Associate Chair of the Department of History.
